LAND,
AIR & MARINE INFRASTRUCTURE
In the
area of land infrastructure, the LAMDA Development Group has focused primarily
on the sectors of real estate development and investment, while it is now
entering the motorway development sector, having been pre-selected for a number
of large scale projects in partnership with globally leading construction
companies. For the year 2002, the Group's highest profile projects are the
development of the biggest mixed-use commercial-recreational centre in Thessaloniki,
the 2nd largest Greek city, and the development of the Media Village for the
Athens 2004 Olympic Games. It involves the regeneration of an area over 210.000
m2 within the city of Athens, and includes the creation of a model contemporary
residential community with a unique 100.000m2 park and a mixed use shopping
and entertainment centre, for the world's press to enjoy during their stay
in Athens in 2004. Among several other developments, the company is also developing
a residential complex in Bucharest, Romania, in jv with Techniki Olympiaki,
a Greek listed construction company. It also manages a number of properties
including an office building it has developed in Kirchberg, Luxembourg. In
real estate investment, LAMDA's partnership with EFG Eurobank and Deutsche
Bank, has created the first property institutional investor in Greece, which
has already invested € 160 million in acquiring grade A properties, in a market
that still commands premium with yields 8-10% much higher than other European
countries.
In association
with Swissport International, the 2nd largest provider of airport ground handling
services worldwide LAMDA Development offers ground-handling services at all
major Greek airports, including the new Athens International Airport.
LAMDA Development has also invested in marine infrastructure. Having acquired
a contemporary yacht maintenance and refurbishment yard in Elefsis, Athens,
LAMDA offers its clients specialised and integrated services in the areas
of maintenance, repair and conversion of luxury mega yachts and other marine
crafts. In parallel, LAMDA Development has been selected and is currently
conducting final negotiations in order to acquire the Olympic VIP Marina of
Athens located in Floisvos, in the southern part of the city.
