Nicholas Himaras
Deputy Director for Security - Athens 2004 Organizing Committee
Mr. Himaras
began his professional life in 1981, in the United States Marine Corps, as
an Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Officer. An aerospace engineer, he
worked in a number of military aviation and space technology programs, in
the U.S. government and industry, as project engineer and manager. An active
member of the Marine Corps Reserve, he also served in a variety of operational
and staff posts, specializing in areas such as operations planning, fire support
and coordination and force protection, participating in a number of U.S. joint
and NATO military exercises, worldwide.
Prior
to his appointment in his current position, Mr. Himaras, served as specialist
and program manager with the Federal Aviation Administration in environmental
protection, safety and security of commercial space launch operations and
sites, in the United States and internationally.
Mr. Himaras
is currently the Deputy Director for Security, for the Organizing Committee
for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
