Select Sector SPDR Trust
Dan began his career
in 1985 in the origination division of the Unit Investment Trust Department
of Merrill Lynch. After excelling in various marketing functions in
the Equity Division, he was named Director of Global Equity Marketing
in 1997 as his role expanded to include all Equities and Exchange Traded
Funds (ETFs). In this position, Dan led the development of nine ETFs
as tools for Merrill Lynch Financial Advisors to customize client portfolios
to meet specific investment objectives. Merrill partnered with State
Street and the American Stock Exchange and launched Sector SPDRs in
December, 1998, with $400 million in assets. Sector SPDR assets have
since grown to more than $9.0 billion.
With a strong belief
in the growth potential of ETFs and a passion for the product, Dan left
Merrill Lynch after 18 years and accepted the position as Director of
Wealth Management Strategies for the Select Sector SPDR Trust in July,
2003. In this role, he is responsible for developing investment strategies
using Sector SPDRs and talking to Financial Advisors, Planners, Traders
and Portfolio Managers about implementation.
Dan is a graduate
of the State University of New York at Oswego with a BS in Business
Administration and received an MBA in International Finance from Fordham
University.
