Biographical Sketchs
Herb
Blank is Founder and President of QED International Associates, Inc.
-- a network of experienced quantitative professionals providing consulting
services to the global investment community. One of the firm’s
specialties is its collective expertise in exchange-traded funds and
derivative instruments. He served as symposium director for the FT-Knowledge/NYIF
series of seminars on exchange-traded funds (ETFs). He has also spoken
on ETF’s at many other major industry conferences.
Herb has 20+ years of experience in quantitative research and investment
management. A frequently published author, he contributed the chapter
on Global Index Families to the recent book, Perspectives on Equity
Indexing, published by Frank J. Fabozzi. He was also published in Enhanced
Indexing, an Institutional Investor publication, aand the Dow Jones
Journal of Index Issues – which he helped create.
Previously,
as a Director for Deutsche Bank Securities, he served as Chief Investment
Officer of the CountryBaskets Index Fund, the first open-end ETF to
trade on the New York Stock Exchage. In addition to direct responsibility
for all asset management activities, he helped establish the fund’s
precedent-setting operational structure.
Prior
to that, he served as a Senior Quantitative Analyst at a New-York-based
asset management and publishing firm. Herb holds an MBA in Finance from
NYU’s Stern School Of Business and a B.A. in Mathematics from
the University of Pennsylvania.
