Minister of Economy and Energy
Born on 5 July 1952 in Bourgas, Bulgaria.
Graduated in Nuclear Power Plants and Facilities from the Moscow Institute of Energy and in Macroeconomics from the University of National and World Economy, Sofia.
Specializations: Finland, Canada, France and the USA.
1979-1984 - positions in the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant.
1986-1990 - deputy director general of Energoproekt.
1990-1995 - senior expert in nuclear safety and head of the Nuclear Facilities Division at the Committee for the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy.
1995-1996 - First Deputy Chairman of the Energy Committee.
June 1996 - February 1997 - Minister of Energy and Energy Resources.
Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party.
Deputy Chairman of the left wing parliamentary groups in the 38th, 39th and 40th National Assembly.
17 August 2005 - Minister of Economy and Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Languages: fluent in English and Russian.
Married, with three children.
