Atanas H. Goranov, FRM
Vice President Risk Management, GE Asset Management
Atanas Goranov is a Vice President, Risk Management at GE Asset management, an asset management firm with more than $180BB of assets under management invested in public and private equities, fixed income, real estate and hedge funds around the world. Atanas Goranov leads the investment risk management team for public equities and fixed income. He is also General Securities principal of GE's broker-dealer GEID Inc. and is responsible for risk management of the GEAM's institutional and retail investment products.
Atanas Goranov joined GE in 1993 through the Global Leadership Development Program which included Wharton and Harvard Business School classes. Since graduating from the program he held various leadership roles in GE. His assignments included acquisitions and dispositions of banks, asset management and insurance firms. For the last 10 years he held various role of increasing responsibility in the area of investment risk management.
Prior to GE, Atanas Goranov worked for the World Bank in Washington DC and as a trader for the commodity trading company Isotimpex. Atanas Goranov graduated cum laude from Moscow State Institute of International Relations with a Diploma in Economics. He holds an MBA degree from the American University in Washington DC and was awarded the Financial Risk Manager designation by the Global Association of Risk Professionals.Atanas Goranov is a member of Beta, Gamma Sigma, GARP, the New York Society of Security Analysts and the CFA Institute. He is also a member of the Bulgarian City Club in London and co-founder of the Bulgarian Wall Street Club in New York.
